This site has been created to enable mental health professionals and members of the public to obtain information on EMDR, our UK training schedule, the evidence base for EMDR, training and accreditation requirements, and other related information.

The principal of EMDR Training & Consultancy Ltd is John Spector, Consultant Clinical Psychologist.  John was the first British Clinician to be trained in EMDR by Dr Shapiro (the founder of EMDR), and he is an accredited Consultant in EMDR, an EMDR Institute Facilitator, and an EMDR Europe accredited Trainer in EMDR.  He is the author of several papers published in the Scientific Literature on EMDR.

EMDR Trainings organised by EMDR Training & Consultancy Ltd are recognised by the EMDR Association UK and Ireland (the official body representing EMDR in the UK) and also by EMDR Europe (the body governing training standards throughout Europe). 

These trainings are the only British Trainings accredited by Dr Shapiro (the founder of EMDR) through the EMDR Institute.  As such:-

1. They are constantly updated in the light of new research and clinical findings.

2. EMDR Institute presenters undergo the most rigorous training of all EMDR trainers so that the standard of their presentation is the highest and feedback on our presenters is consistently outstanding.

3. All trainees undergoing Institute trainings may join the EMDR Institute discussion list - a valuable resource.

4. Our Level 1 trainings are the only ones in the UK generally to include an optional EMDR child and adolescent training day for clinicians working in this area.

EMDR Training & Consultancy Ltd has trained the vast majority of British Clinicians for by far the longest time - since 1994 when EMDR Trainings began in the UK.

From January 2010 EMDR T&C Ltd will be concentrating on providing the finest accredited EMDR in-house Trainings in the UK for small groups of between 16 and 30 clinicians and also Refresher Days for EMDR clinicians wishing to update their practice.  Apply to John Spector at emdr.org@btopenworld.com for information.
